We're celebrating 50 years of defending human rights around the globe - and we're asking you to connect your celebration with ours.  Instead of another pair of socks, ask your friends and family to make a donation to Amnesty International Australia.

Together we can work towards a world that says no to torture, where every child has the right to an education and a safe passage to school, and where you are free to speak up for your beliefs, without fearing imprisonment or abuse.

Make a real difference today and ask your friends and family to make a donation to Amnesty International Australia in lieu of your usual birthday gift.

It is easy to get started!  Simply click on the 'Start Fundraising' button and in a few easy clicks you'll have your personal fundraising page that can be sent to  your friends and family for a donation instead of a pair of socks.

Each donation is recorded on your page along with birthday messages from your donors. You can even track progress on your own ”Hero Meter” and upload your own photos and videos! So get a head start and make sure you create your online birthday fundraising page today.

Amnesty International Australia

Millions of people around the world are deprived of their human rights. They are discriminated against, wrongly imprisoned, tortured and killed. They are prevented from informing and expressing themselves, meeting freely or practicing their beliefs. They are deprived of food and water, health care, education, work or a home. These individuals are deprived of human dignity by governments, by big corporations, by armed groups and even by family members. The chains are visible and obvious, other times they are secret and insidious. This injustice must stop. And ordinary people working together have the power to stop it.

Amnesty International was founded in 1961 by Peter Benenson. Today as we celebrate over 50 years of defending human rights, we have become a global movement of over 3 million supporters; individuals, working together to make a difference.

Thank you for considering a gift to support human rights instead of your usual birthday gift, this year!
